Cheers and Jeers for June 8

Cheers to the City of Estevan for slowly replacing the bad sidewalks. It’s going to take a long time, but at least the work has started. Cheers to the Estevan Humane Society for adding the agility course test to the dog jog on the weekend.

Cheers to the Estevan Humane Society for adding the agility course test to the dog jog on the weekend. It made for some added entertainment.

Cheers to all of those who assisted with the cleanup from the thunderstorms in Lampman, Alameda and other communities. It’s good to see neighbours helping each other out.

Cheers to the award winners at the Estevan Comprehensive School this year. They have worked so hard in the classroom, in athletics and with extracurricular activities.

Cheers to the arrival of new physicians in Estevan. Hopefully it will make a big difference for those in need of a doctor.

Jeers to the driver of a sports utility vehicle who felt the need to run a red light at the intersection of Fourth Street and Souris Avenue on Sunday.

Jeers to those who insist on accelerating through the water after heavy rains, causing water to splash up, and increase the risk of flood damage to buildings.

Jeers to the lottery system that was used to determine cannabis retailers in the province. Hopefully next time the lottery system will be tweaked or abandoned.

Jeers to those who leave their vehicles idling for extended periods of time, especially at this time of year. Not good for the vehicle or for the environment.

Jeers to a two-day fair in Estevan this year. It worked well as three days. If the weather is bad for both days, then it will really hurt the exhibition association.
