Cheers and Jeers for March 20

Cheers: Cheers to all of the front-line medical staff for the work they have done, amid these challenging times, as they assist with the response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Cheers:

Cheers to all of the front-line medical staff for the work they have done, amid these challenging times, as they assist with the response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Cheers to the nurses who have come out of retirement to help out in our hospitals during the past week, and for those who will do so before too long.

Cheers to all of the individuals and organizations, such as the Estevan Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs, who have volunteered to help those in need by delivering products to their homes.

Cheers to those who are doing all they can to support small businesses during this time. They’re going to be particularly hard-hit in the coming weeks.

Cheers to the Souris Valley Museum for having activities that give kids something to do when they’re not in school. Too bad those programs, like so many others, have been discontinued.

Cheers to Estevan city council for deciding not to proceed with a new arena at this time, but not completely killing the project, either.

Jeers:

Jeers to those who are complaining about events being cancelled and services being discontinued in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. At this time, it’s best to be smart and cautious.

Jeers to those who don’t heed the 14-day self-isolation period that has now been imposed. We know you’re busy and you have things to do, but it’s for everyone else’s good that you don’t go out in public for 14 days.

Jeers to the hoarders out there who have taken things they don’t need, leaving nothing for the rest of us. If we’re going to be in a lockdown, it’s not going to be for the long-term.
