Cheers and Jeers for March 22

Cheers: Cheers to the city crew that worked from 8:00 a.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday to fix a huge water main break on Spruce Drive. They did a great job in a difficult situation to finish the work before school was in session on Monday.

Cheers to the Estevan Snowmobile Club for the excellent trails this year. It was a short season but they made it enjoyable.

Cheers to everybody who was involved with the Estevan Recreational Dance Club recital on the weekend. The dancers looked great and they all did a wonderful job.

Cheers to all of the minor hockey teams in the region for the way in which they represented their communities throughout the season.

Cheers to those who are organizing the Convoy to Regina, and taking a stand against the carbon tax.

Jeers:

Jeers to those who did not clean up their pets’ messes during the winter months. Now that the snow is melting, those droppings are really visible around town.

Jeers to motorists who have been exceeding the speed limit and driving aggressively in the construction zone along Highway 18 west of Estevan.

Jeers to the decision to remove front counter service from the Ministry of Environment office in Estevan. It’s still a valuable resource for seniors.

Jeers to Weyburn city council for even thinking of rejecting a group home proposal. Hopefully Estevan’s council will never make the same mistake.

Jeers to the deficit in this year’s federal budget. We’re going to be paying for the Liberals fiscal mismanagement for years to come.
