Cheers and Jeers for March 30

Cheers: Cheers to the Fornwald family for winning the Farm Family of the Year Award. They are a classic case of a good farm family. Cheers to all of the talented young musicians who performed during this year’s Estevan and District Music Festival.

Cheers to the Fornwald family for winning the Farm Family of the Year Award. They are a classic case of a good farm family.

Cheers to all of the talented young musicians who performed during this year’s Estevan and District Music Festival. The Estevan area is home to a lot of talent.

Cheers to the City of Estevan for another great effort to keep the streets clear following the snowstorm last Friday.

Cheers to the organizers of the B&T Estevan Gun Show for all of the great displays, including some that didn’t involve guns, at this year’s show.

Cheers to the Estevan Comprehensive School’s cheerleading team for winning the gold medal at the provincial competition on the weekend.

Jeers:

Jeers to the person who wrote last week’s editorial in Southeast Lifestyles. People need to learn to control their own spending. If people would learn to quit spending more than they take in, we would all be better off.

Jeers to city council for deciding not to offer a credit on the infrastructure fee increase for those who are still paying for water main replacements through the local improvement program.

Jeers to the pedestrians who insist on crossing the street at traffic lights, even though the light is red. Please wait for the green light.

Jeers to the motorists who thought it was acceptable to drive the speed limit during the peak of the snowstorm last week. When there’s near-zero visibility, if you have to drive, then slow down.

Jeers to pet owners who have refused to clean up after their animals during the winter. Now that the snow is gone, it’s left a big mess.
