Cheers and Jeers for March 8

Cheers: Cheers to the Estevan Regional Nursing Home for the care they gave to a local man during the short time that person was in their care.

Cheers:

Cheers to the Estevan Regional Nursing Home for the care they gave to a local man during the short time that person was in their care.

Cheers to the Estevan Comprehensive School senior girls basketball team for the great work they do each year with the Victor Elias Memorial Shoot for a Cure basketball tournament.

Cheers to the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins for winning the division title for the third straight year. Good luck in the playoffs.

Cheers to the City of Estevan for continuing to bring quality entertainment to the city. The country music concert on March 11 looks like it will be a lot of fun.

Cheers to Estevan’s Hunter Chipley for the way in which he represented the city and the province during the Canada Winter Games.

Cheers to the Estevan Kinsmen and Kinettes Club members who were in Saskatoon for Telemiracle 43, and to all those who donated to Telemiracle this year.

Jeers:

Jeers to people in the 800- and 900-block of George Street and King Street who don’t take their flyers home from their community mailboxes. Most people take their flyers home, why not these people?

Jeers to those who zip along Sixth Street through the intersection with Souris Avenue South, without slowing down. They don’t have right of way, but too many people don’t even make an effort to stop.

Jeers to those who park in stalls marked for handicapped people. Perhaps it’s time for some stiffer fines for those who insist on doing this.

Jeers to those who think they can still drive above the speed limit on the highway despite treacherous driving conditions caused by blowing snow.
