Cheers and Jeers for Oct. 4

Cheers to everyone in southeast Saskatchewan who participated in a Terry Fox Run in September, and raised some much-needed money for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Cheers to Susan Colbow for her many years of service to the Estevan Kinettes Club and to Telemiracle. She was certainly very deserving of the life membership from the club she received on the weekend.

Cheers to the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course and the Estevan Comprehensive School for the great job they did in hosting the provincial high school golf tournament this past weekend, even if the weather didn’t co-operate.

Cheers to the Estevan Police Association for having two days of great speakers at the Saskatchewan police officers wellness convention. It offered lots of great information on a timely issue.

Cheers to the Wylie-Mitchell Air Cadets for the march-a-thon they held on Saturday. It made for a nice sight to see the cadets marching through downtown Estevan in their uniforms despite the cold weather.

Jeers to people who failed to trim their tree branches this year, creating hazards for vehicles and pedestrians. Hopefully this won’t be a problem in winter.

Jeers to those who fail to signal well in advance before making a turn. It’s so much easier on everyone else if you take the minimal effort needed to use a signal light.

Jeers to the fact we’re still seeing RVs and campers parked out on the streets of Estevan. Aren’t they supposed to be in storage if they’re not at a campground?

Jeers to motorists who aren’t aware that school zone speed limits are in effect beyond school hours. You’ll still find kids in the playgrounds before and after school, and on weekends.
