Cheers and Jeers for March 23

Cheers: Cheers to Estevan Mercury Publications for all the giveaways they do. A mother and her daughter had so much fun at the Ballet Jorgen performance on Tuesday night.

Cheers to all local minor hockey teams for the tremendous effort they have shown and the improvements they have made this season.

Cheers to Creighton Lodge and the Estevan Public Library for coming together on a program that provides literacy opportunities for seniors.

Cheers to the Estevan Chamber of Commerce for organizing such an informative panel on the future of business in the community at the organization’s annual general meeting.

Cheers to the three young people who tipped off the Estevan Police Service about an impaired driver. It’s good to see young people doing what they can to help the community.

Jeers:

Jeers to people who smoke too close to the front entrance of Affinity Place. Coming out of the building after watching the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins play on Saturday was like walking into a forest fire. Isn’t there a law against this?

Jeers to the disrespectful cat owners who continue to leave their multiple cats outside to roam around in neighbours’ yards. They are also attracting other cats from the area to add to the nuisance.

Jeers to light sentences for people who are driving while impaired, resulting in the death of an innocent. Their sentences should be a lot more than two or three years.

Jeers to the people who are driving too fast around the city. People are getting hurt.

Jeers to the length of time it took the provincial government to release the new marijuana legislation.
