Over 20 people gathered by the City Hall in Estevan on Friday afternoon for the Pride Week flag raising and dedication ceremony. It was the 2019 Estevan Pride Week's final event. Education co-ordinator with Saskatchewan Pride Network Laura Budd’s opening speech was followed by greetings and speeches by Karly Garnier, education and outreach program co-ordinator with the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum, Estevan Police Deputy Chief Murray Cowan and Police Chief Paul Ladouceur, venerable Wilma Woods of St. Giles Anglican Church, St. Paul’s United Church pastor Jason Richards and Emily Gillies of Four Pillars Retreat Centre. Some Estevan youth from Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) brought their own flags. Next week’s Mercury will have more on the event.
