Led by Estevan Art Gallery and Museum education, outreach and programming co-ordinator Karly Garnier kids aged six-10 from the Hillcrest Early Learning Centre practised their art skills during the winter school break activities. Denisse Leal, Sophia Murphy, Ehla Domasig, Anderson Murphy, Jacob Ogoc and Jackson Kennedy were doing canvas painting using different painting techniques and materials that they probably have never tried before. They used brushes to start, then foam rollers, and after that they tried bubble wrap painting. On top of that, they utilized cardboard to scrape the canvas and then used palette knives. The kids finished their abstract art pieces with oil pastel drawing over top. This activity allowed them to use numerous colours and to experiment with various supplies and materials to paint on the canvas.
