CANORA, Sask. — Police in eastern Saskatchewan are investigating the death of a child.
RCMP say they responded to a call early Saturday about a one-year-old boy needing urgent medical attention at a home in Canora, north of Yorkton.
They say officers took over resuscitation efforts from family in the home until an emergency crew arrived, but the child didn't survive.
RCMP say that based on the child's injuries and an initial investigation, officers with the major crimes unit were called in to take over the case.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Police say the home continues to be secured for further investigation.
