Saskatoon officer pleads guilty to sex assault, gets conditional discharge

SASKATOON — A Saskatoon police officer who is also a military reservist has been given a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to sexual assault.

Const. Robert Brown was charged after an investigation by the Canadian Forces investigation service into an off-duty incident on Remembrance Day of 2017 at an armoury in Saskatoon.

Brown was arrested last year and the service said at the time that the victim was a civilian.

Brown, a 16-year veteran of the police force who is also a member of the North Saskatchewan Regiment, had been suspended with pay pending the outcome of his court case.

The discharge means Brown will not have a criminal record.

Brown must not drink alcohol and continue addiction treatment as part of his conditions.
