The Border City Blue Jays did something their Major League Baseball namesakes haven’t done in 25 years – repeat as champions.

The team from Lloydminster defeated Carlyle Cardinals 14-4 in sweltering 37-degree Celsius heat at Lynn Prime Park Sunday afternoon to claim their second provincial senior AA tier II baseball title in a row.

The Cardinals won 17-3 over the Yorkton Yankees in the Sunday morning semifinal.

The Estevan Tap House Wolves, who hosted the tournament, weren’t able to make it to the playoffs Sunday but the other Saskota Baseball League team in the tournament, the Oxbow Chiefs, did, losing 7-2 to the Blue Jays Sunday morning.
