The Estevan Bruins have announced the commitment of a midget AAA scoring champion.

Forward Mason Beck, a 2002-born forward from Bridgewater, N.S., has signed a letter of commitment with the Bruins.

Beck joins the club after leading the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League in scoring with 69 points in 34 games with Bridgewater’s South Shore Mustangs.

"The Bruins are such a high-end organization, everything the team did during the recruitment process made it a very easy decision for me. I can’t wait to put on the Bruins jersey for the first time,” Beck said.

"We are really excited to have Mason joined our organization,” said Bruins head coach and general manager Jason Tatarnic. “Our scouting staff identified Mason last season as a player we wanted in Estevan.

“It worked out well with my connections in the Maritimes and that Mason’s coach (Brogan Bailey) was one of my captains during my time in Woodstock.

“I know he will be prepared to play at the junior level and will be a player that can contribute right away. Mason is a skilled player that put up some impressive numbers last year. We are looking forward to seeing Mason on the ice this fall."
