Black beats Gold to win Gerry Aspen Cup

Team Black defeated Team Gold 4-0 Saturday night to win the Estevan Bruins annual intersquad game at Affinity Place. Isaiah Thomas scored midway through the first period to give Black a 1-0 lead.

Team Black defeated Team Gold 4-0 Saturday night to win the Estevan Bruins annual intersquad game at Affinity Place.

Isaiah Thomas scored midway through the first period to give Black a 1-0 lead. Goals by Brendan Pigeon and Cody Davis in the second upped the Team Black advantage to 3-0.

Devan Harrison rounded out the scoring when he tallied late in the third.

Kadin Kilpatrick, Ben Greenlee and Keenan Rancier shared the goaltending duties for Team Black.

Team Black was presented with the Gerry Aspen Cup after the game. The trophy is named after Aspen, a long-time and popular former trainer of the Bruins.

The Black and Gold Game wrapped up three days of training camp activities for the Bruins.

The club will regroup and host the Notre Dame Hounds for their annual rookie game on Monday night at Affinity Place at 7 p.m. 

The next edition of the Mercury will have more on the Bruins training camp.
