Estevan Bruins’ forward Caleb Petrie has made the final three in the SJHL’s RBC Community Ambassador competition.

Petrie was chosen as the Bruins’ representative for the 2021 honour, as each team selected one player to be their nominee. There were then three separate votes on the SJHL’s Twitter accounts, with the winner of each fan vote making the final 3.

Petrie won his group with nearly 44 per cent of the vote.

He will join Weyburn’s Braden Birnie and Melfort’s Ben Chase as the finalists for the award.

“We are extremely proud of both Caleb Petrie and our passionate fan base for getting a Bruins’ player to the final 3 for a third consecutive season,” said Danny Ewen, Estevan Bruins’ director of marketing and operations.

“It speaks to the type of character people that our team has recruited and focused on over the past years, and how we emphasize to our players that being involved in our community is vitally important to being an Estevan Bruin. But of course, all the credit goes to Caleb for his attitude and dedication to being a positive role model as a member of the Estevan Bruins.”

Last year, Bruins’ defenceman Kade McMillen of Carievale was named as the league-wide SJHL RBC Community Ambassador. In 2018/19, defenceman Johnny Witzke made the final three for the Bruins.

The selection process for the final winner will be determined and released at a later date.
