The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins have acquired centre Will Koop from the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Koop, a 20-year-old forward from Winnipeg, has 111 points in 111 career junior A hockey games.

The deal finalizes a series of trades for the Bruins that began with the rights to 1998-born goaltender Curtis Meger being sent to the Lloydminister Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League on Oct. 2.

Estevan traded 18-year-old defenceman Evan Kaufman, who had been previously acquired from the Brooks Bandits but never played for Estevan, to Steinbach to acquire Koop. Cash futures were also sent to Steinbach in the deal.

Koop is expected to be in the Bruins lineup for Saturday night’s game against Nipawin.

He brings plenty of offensive punch and experience to the Bruins. While he was pointless in two games with the Pistons this season, he had 27 goals and 59 points in 55 regular season games with Steinbach last season, and added two goals and seven points in 13 postseason games in helping the Pistons win the league title.

He notched one goal in four games at last year’s World Junior A Hockey Challenge.
