The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins closed out their three-game road trip with a 3-2 loss in Humboldt against the Broncos on Sunday afternoon.

Derek Patter opened the scoring 3:13 into the first period to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. It would be the only goal scored until the eight-minute mark of the second period, when Brayden Camrud scored to double the Broncos advantage.

The Bruins cut the lead in half with less than nine minutes to play in the middle frame, when Kolton Leslie scored his first goal in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Cole Kirkup’s goal 15 seconds into the third period restored the Broncos two-goal lead, and that held up until Bryce Platt’s goal for the Bruins with 25 seconds to play.

Grant Boldt stopped 27 shots for the Bruins. Dane Dow made 38 saves to get the win for the Broncos.

The Bruins finished with a 1-2 record on the road trip. They beat the Battlefords North Stars 2-1 in a shootout on Friday night, but then they lost 3-2 to the Kindersley Klippers on Saturday and dropped the decision against Humboldt Sunday.

Estevan’s next game is Wednesday night when they host the Notre Dame Hounds at 7 p.m. at Affinity Place.
