The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins moved into top spot in the Viterra Division on Friday night with a convincing 7-0 road win over the Weyburn Red Wings.

Michael McChesney and Jayden Davis scored in the first period to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead. Will Koop’s goal early in the second upped the advantage to three, and then Turner Ripplinger and Bryce Platt scored less than three minutes apart before the middle frame was finished to give the Bruins a 5-0 edge.

McChesney notched his second of the game three minutes into the third, and Tristyn DeRoose rounded out the scoring midway through the period.

Kadin Kilpatrick made 16 saves to get his first shutout in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Estevan (24-20-2-1) has now won six straight games.

The Bruins win, coupled with a 4-2 loss by the Yorkton Terriers to the Kindersley Klippers, means the Bruins now have a two-point lead, 51-49, over the Terriers (24-20-1) for the division lead. Yorkton has a game in hand.

The Bruins and Weyburn will meet again Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Affinity Place.
