The Estevan Bruins opened a stretch of four games in five days by dropping a 4-1 decision to the Kindersley Klippers on Friday night in Kindersley.

Bruins rookie defenceman Kersey Reich, who hails from Estevan, scored the opening goal of the game 5:44 into the first period to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. It was also Reich’s first goal in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).

That lead remained in tact until late in the first, when Zach Ziegler and Dawson McKenzie tallied 73 seconds apart to give the Klippers a 2-1 advantage.

McKenzie’s goal came with five seconds to play in the first, and proved to be the game-winning marker.

Austin Nault scored for the Klippers with 2:28 to play in the second to double the advantage, and Liam Fraser rounded out the scoring with a goal 2:19 into the third.

Randy Cooke made 25 shots for the Bruins in his first Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League start.

The Bruins will visit the Battlefords North Stars Saturday night. Then they will head to Warman for two games in the SJHL Showcase early next week.
