Bruins lose third road game this week

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins can’t shake off the bad string of results from their trip through the Sherwood Division, as they dropped a close 3-2 decision to the La Ronge Ice Wolves Friday night.

TJ Irey opened the scoring at 14:57 of the first period with assists from Tanner Manz and Tristyn DeRoose, but the Ice Wolves scored three in a row in the second period to grab the lead.

Bruins captain Jake Heerspink scored one before the end of the period, with assists from Jerzy Martin and Tom Sweeney, to bring the Bruins back to within a goal but the third period had no goals in it and the Bruins lost their third in a row on the road trip.

Jake Anthony made his first start in net for the Bruins while newcomer Daniel Davidson made his first start for La Ronge. Shots on goal were unavailable from the league.

The Bruins will try to salvage the last game of the trip Saturday night in Melfort. Their next home date is Nov. 2 against the Battlefords North Stars.
