Bruins open road trip with loss to Nipawin

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins dropped a 3-0 decision to the Nipawin Hawks on Tuesday night to open the Bruins final northern road trip of the season.

Jordan Simoneau scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 6:10 mark of the first period. Carson Erhardt added to the Hawks advantage with 3:11 to play in the opening frame.

After a scoreless second period, the Hawks put the game away when Erhardt scored his second of the game with 6:41 remaining in the third.

Jake Anthony stopped 30 shots for the Bruins in the loss. Nipawin’s Declan Hobbes made 25 saves to post the shutout victory.

The loss was the fourth straight for the Bruins (13-16-1-0), while Nipawin (19-8-0-1) won their fourth straight game.

The Bruins will continue the road trip Wednesday night in La Ronge at 7:30 p.m.
