The Estevan Bruins split their first two games of a four games in five nights road trip.

Estevan opened the road trip with a 4-1 win over the Kindersley Klippers Tuesday night – their first win over Kindersley in four attempts this season.

The game was scoreless until the Bruins scored three times in a 2:08 span of the second. Isaiah Thomas tallied on a two-on-one to open the scoring midway through the frame, and then he doubled the lead with a breakaway goal about a minute later.

Eddie Gallagher ended the offensive barrage with a goal off of another two-on-one rush shortly after Thomas’ second goal.

The third period was scoreless until late in the frame, when CJ Corazzin scored into an empty net.

Brendon Borbely’s goal for Kindersley less than a minute later spoiled the shutout bid for Bruin goaltender Keenan Rancier.

Rancier finished with 40 saves on the night.

The following night, the Bruins lost 5-1 to the Humboldt Broncos. Noah Barlage scored late in the first to give Humboldt a 1-0 lead. The score remained unchanged until early in the third, when Corazzin scored to tie the game.

Bryson Cecconi and Logan Kurki scored 17 seconds apart for Humboldt to give the Broncos a 3-1 lead, and then Zach McIntyre and Justin Jamer added empty net goals in the final minute to put the game away.

Rancier made 32 saves on the night.

The Bruins will visit the Battlefords North Stars on Friday night and the Klippers on Saturday to finish the road trip.
