The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins defeated the host Melville Millionaires 5-1 on Saturday night to sweep the annual season-opening home-and-home series between the two teams for the third consecutive season.

The two teams were scoreless after the first period, but then the Bruins broke loose with three in the second. Third-year Bruin forward Zach Goberis scored a short-handed goal 44 seconds into the frame, Tanner McKechnie scored his first goal in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) midway through the frame, and TJ Irey picked up his first in the SJHL less than five minutes later.

Troy Williams scored for the Millionaires early in the third period, but power play goals by Isaac Embree and Michael McChesney put the game away.

Maxim Sidelnik stopped 21 shots to get his first win in the SJHL. Colby Entz and Josh King were in goal for Melville.

The Bruins defeated the Millionaires 4-2 on Friday night in Estevan in the opening game of the regular season.

Next week's edition of the Mercury will have more on the Bruins' sweep of Melville.
