Jayden Davis scored twice in the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins 4-2 victory over the Humboldt Broncos on Saturday night at Affinity Place.

The best-of-seven series is now tied at 1-1.

Owen Guenter scored with 3:38 to play in the first period to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.

Davis scored his first of the game seven seconds into the second period to tie the game. It was a short-handed goal – his fifth of the season between the regular season and the playoffs.

Eddie Gallagher tallied with 8:23 to play in the second to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes. The Bruins outshot the Broncos 20-10 in the middle frame.

Mitch Zombon's goal 5:49 into the third tied the game, but Bruins captain Jake Heerspink would score five minutes later to restore Estevan’s lead. Davis added his second of the game with 86 seconds remaining to clinch the victory.

Grant Boldt made 28 saves for the Bruins in the victory, while Rayce Ramsay made 36 saves for Humboldt.

Davis said the team had a better work ethic and made fewer mistakes Saturday night compared with Game 1 Friday night, which they lost 4-1 to Humboldt.

"We were working as hard as we could, limiting mistakes, and playing simple and clean hockey," said Davis.

They also managed more shots on goal on Ramsay.

Not only did the win in Game 2 even up the series, but it was the Bruins first win in six meetings with Humboldt this season.

Head coach and general manager Chris Lewgood didn't put too much stock into finally getting a win against the Broncos, since the two teams played their four regular season games before Christmas.

"Normally there would be that mental block when you have a bad record against a team, but a lot of that's in the past,” said Lewgood. “It was a long time ago and things have changed since then."

The next two games will be in Humboldt, with Game 3 Monday night and Game 4 on Tuesday.
