Late goals lift Bruins to win in home opener

Eddie Gallagher scored the winning goal with 2:24 to play in the third period, and Jayden Davis added the insurance goal with 40 seconds to play to lift the Estevan Bruins to a 4-2 victory over the Yorkton Terriers Tuesday night at Affinity Place.

The game was the Bruins home opener.

Devon Cyr scored 12:56 into the first period to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. It was also the Bruins first goal of the season. Griffin Asham-Moroz doubled the lead with 55 seconds to play in the opening frame.

Yorkton tied the game with two tallies of their own in the second. Carson Henry scored on a power play six minutes into the middle frame, and Kurri Woodford tied the game eight minutes later.

It remained deadlocked until the Bruins goals late in the third.

Keenan Rancier stopped 23 shots to pick up the victory for Estevan. Philippe Bond made 32 saves for Yorkton.

The Bruins will head out on the road for their next action. They will visit the Kindersley Klippers on Friday night and the Battlefords North Stars on Saturday.
