The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins have come to terms with head coach and general manager Chris Lewgood on a new three-year contract.

An announcement was made Wednesday afternoon on the Bruins Facebook page.

Lewgood has been with the club since the start of the 2013-14 season. He has led the club to three straight division titles and three consecutive appearances in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s semifinal round.

The Bruins reached the league final in 2018 for the first time since 1999.

“We’ve won three consecutive division titles and have established ourselves as a perennial championship contender, as was our plan when I signed my last contract extension,” said Lewgood in a news release.

“I’m proud and honoured that the Bruins and community have once again entrusted me and the amazing staff we’ve assembled here to lead the club in continued growth and prosperity for the next three seasons.”

Next week's edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
