Mustangs beat Bruins 3-1 to take 2-0 series lead

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins are down 2-0 in their best-of-seven semifinal series with the Melfort Mustangs after dropping a 3-1 decision Saturday night in Melfort.

For the second straight night, the Bruins opened the scoring. This time it was 5:13 into the second period, when Jayden Davis scored. But 17 seconds later, Tanner Zentner tied the game for Melfort.

The Mustangs had all of the offence in the third, as Carson Albrecht scored what proved to be the game-winning goal 3:39 into the stanza, and less than five minutes later, Nolan Kadachuk added the insurance marker.

Grant Boldt stopped 22 shots in the game for the Bruins, while Noah Giesbrecht came up with 29 saves for Melfort.

The Mustangs won Game 1 6-2 on Friday night.

Estevan and Melfort will return to the ice for Game 3 on Tuesday night at Affinity Place at 7:30 p.m. Game 4 will be the following night.
