Reich’s goal helps lift Bruins to win

Kersey Reich scored the winning goal with 6 1/2 minutes to play in the third period in the Estevan Bruins 3-1 victory over the Kindersley Klippers on Friday night at Affinity Place.

Reich scored on a screened point shot moments after a rush by forward Griffin Asham-Moroz into the Kindersley zone.

Asham-Moroz opened the scoring midway through the first period. It remained a one-goal game until 68 seconds into the third, when Jacob Schnapp tied the game for Kindersley.

Reich restored the lead with his goal, and Brady Nicholas put the game away with 2:12 to play in the third.

Keenan Rancier had 33 saves in the victory.

Estevan improved their record to 12-15-2-1, while Kindersley is at 13-16-5-1. They are among five teams currently battling for the final playoff spot in the league, along with Weyburn, Melville and Notre Dame. Those five teams are separated by five points.

The Bruins will be back on the ice Saturday night when they host the Melfort Mustangs. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
