Keenan Rancier made 44 saves for the Bruins in a 4-1 victory over the Mustangs on Friday night in Melfort. The Mustangs outshot the Bruins 45-19 on the night, but could only beat Rancier once.

Griffin Asham-Moroz scored midway through the first period, shortly after a Melfort penalty expired, to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. It remained a 1-0 advantage until the seven-minute mark of the third, when Troy Hamilton scored on a power play to extend the Bruins lead.

But less than a minute later, Christian Albertson notched a short-handed goal to pull the Mustangs to within one.

Hamilton scored his second of the game with less than six minutes to play in the third to restore the two-goal lead, and Cody Davis finished the scoring with 17 seconds remaining to finish the scoring.

Melfort outshot Estevan 18-5 in the first, 16-6 in the second and 11-8 in the third.

Shawn Parkinson, who had shutouts in his final three games of the season, stopped 15 shots for the Mustangs.

Game 2 will be played Saturday night in Melfort.
