Five Sharks teams compete in Regina

The Estevan Sharks water polo club sent three bantam and two cadet teams to tournaments in Regina this past weekend. The cadet girls team competed on Nov. 16 and finished with a 3-1-1 record.

The Estevan Sharks water polo club sent three bantam and two cadet teams to tournaments in Regina this past weekend.

The cadet girls team competed on Nov. 16 and finished with a 3-1-1 record. Sisters Alex and Josie Andrist led the team, as the only two cadet girls from Estevan. They were joined by bantam Shark plays Sadie Smith, Hailey Tangjerd, Prysm Gooding and Lily Knoll.

The team also welcomed two cadets from Saskatoon to round out the team.

The Cadet boys team played five high-paced, close games, but didn’t manage to get a win.

Cadet age players Tristan and Nathan Thrienen, Logan Dalziel and Lyndon Sauder were strong throughout the day. They were joined by bantam Sharks Dierks Milford, Jace Carritt and Shiven Sangar.

The bantam teams hit the pool on Nov. 16.

The Sharks entered two boys teams. Hammerhead team lost the first three games, but finished strong with a hard fought win over Weyburn Tornados. The Hammerhead roster had bantam Sharks Lucas Dzyerk and Shiven Sangar, atom Sharks Bennett Walliser and Brooks Milford, as well as two Saskatoon teammates.

The Mako Sharks team also finished with a 1-3 record, with their win coming against the Weyburn Hurricanes. Atom player Brody Turner and two Saskatoon players joined bantam teammates Dierks Milford, Casey Olney and Jace Carritt to make the team.

In the bantam girls division, the Sharks won three and tied one. They had a full team with seven bantam-age Sharks, and they added atom girls Rachel Tober and Mahlyn Bomberak.

Next action for the Sharks will be in Saskatoon at winter provincials from Dec. 6-8.
