Midget AA Bruins improve record to 12-0

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins won three games in four days to improve their record to a perfect 12-0 in Saskatchewan AA Hockey League action. Estevan edged the host Regina Capitals 2-1 on Friday night.

Estevan edged the host Regina Capitals 2-1 on Friday night. Regina led 1-0 after the first period, but Trey Stovin’s power play goal late in the second period tied the game, and Tayce Miller notched the game-winner with 53 seconds to play in the third period, also on a power play.

Jackson Miller made 30 saves for the victory.

Estevan’s next game didn’t have the same level of suspense, as they routed the Notre Dame Hounds 8-1 on Sunday at Affinity Place. Miller, Colby Cuddington, James Mann and Kieran Stewart scored in the first period, while Mason Fichter, Stewart and Miller tallied in the second to give Estevan a 7-0 lead by the time there was five minutes left in the second period.

Stewart had Estevan’s lone goal in the third period.

Miller had four assists to go with his two goals, while Tanner Stovin had five helpers.

Logan Nagel made 11 saves in the victory.

The third game was a 4-2 win over the Notre Dame Argos on Monday in Wilcox. Cuddington, Miller, Trey Stovin and Adrien Riddell scored the goals for Estevan.

Jackson Miller was in goal for the Bruins.
