The Southeast Vipers 14U team finished second in the province out of 25 teams in Regina at the Sask Cup 3 tournament held March 24-25.

The girls battled hard throughout the weekend with two Saskatoon teams and a Regina team in their pool finishing third. In their crossover match they took on the 306 Selects besting them in order to stay in Division 1.

The next day the team rallied together in the quarterfinal to beat Battlefords Volleyball Club in a come from behind win in the third set advancing them to the semifinals to determine if they would play for gold or bronze. The girls came up against Saskatoon HVC Green (one of the teams in their pool from the day before) and after battling for the first 10 points, Katie Milbrandt took the momentum of the game in the Vipers favour as she served 12 in a row. The second set carried this energy through and the girls were off to play for gold against JCVC Crush (another team from their pool the day before).

The girls had laid out their all getting to the gold medal match and were unable to gain the momentum from the Saskatoon team in the end. But, they battled hard and earned a big win by reaching the gold medal match.

The team’s next action is a couple of exhibition games on April 7 before they attend Provincials in Saskatoon on April 20-22.
