Area baseball teams gearing up for provincials

Several of the area's high level baseball teams are hitting provincials season, which means for many teams hitting the road for a weekend.

The exception will be the SE Performance Pump Midget AAA Twins, who are hosting an eight team tournament in Estevan July 21-23. The Twins enter this week sixth in the ten-team Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League standings with a 13-17 record. They have a few games left in their season, including four at home.

The Bantam AAA Southeast A's, based out of Alameda and coached by Trent Dorrance, will be in the Bantam AA provincials. They were 1-16 in the regular season in AAA, with a pair of games late in the season unavailable at press time. Their provincial tournament will be July 14-16 in Unity, and their first game is at 1 p.m. July 14 against the Sask Five Giants.

The Peewee AAA TS&M Tornadoes, coached by Ryan Siever, are 6-12-1 in their Baseball Regina regular season. They will be off to their AA Tier I provincials in Weyburn July 21-23.

The Mosquito AAA Sluggers are also off to their provincials that weekend. They had a 6-14-2 regular season in the Baseball Regina league and will be part of a 14-team provincial tournament in the Queen City, starting at 11 a.m. July 14 against the Saskatoon Dodger A's.

Blaine Kovach and the Senior AA Tier 2 Estevan Tower Wolves of the Saskota Baseball League will take part in their provincials Aug. 11-13 in Yorkton. Also going to that tournament are the Saskota's Carlyle Cardinals and Oxbow Chiefs. Going into Tuesday's games, the Tower Wolves are in second place in the Saskota league with a 7-2-1 record, trailing Carlyle who are 8-2-2. Oxbow are in sixth place at 6-4-3.
