Atom AA Bruins rally falls short

The Estevan Western Star Signature Hotel atom tier 1 Bruins season came to an end on March 15, but it wasn’t from a lack of effort. The Bruins lost 8-6 to the Swift Current Broncos at the Power Dodge Ice Centre.

The Estevan Western Star Signature Hotel atom tier 1 Bruins season came to an end on March 15, but it wasn’t from a lack of effort.

The Bruins lost 8-6 to the Swift Current Broncos at the Power Dodge Ice Centre. Swift Current swept the best-of-three South East Minor Hockey League semi-final series in two straight. Estevan had the only goal of the first period, a tally by Deegan LeMoine with seven minutes to play in the frame.

Swift Current took over in the second, scoring twice in the opening 75 seconds to take the lead, and six times overall to take a 6-1 advantage.

Tristan Brownridge scored 49 seconds into the third to give Estevan some life, but Swift Current responded a few minutes later. Then Cameron Milbrandt scored, and 13 seconds later, Carson Deichert tallied to trim Swift Current’s lead. Deichert scored again two minutes later to pull Estevan to within two goals.

Swift Current would get one more to lead by three, and then Kieran Farden responded for Estevan a few minutes later to finish the scoring.

Jaxson Kuchinka and Kris Phillips split the goaltending duties for Estevan.
