Atom Bearcats teams post wins over Diefenbaker

Estevan’s two atom female hockey teams had good showings on the weekend. The Estevan Senchuk Bearcats defeated the Lake Diefenbaker Thunder 5-3 on Jan. 24 at the Power Dodge Ice Centre, and 4-1 on Jan. 26 at Affinity Place.

Estevan’s two atom female hockey teams had good showings on the weekend. The Estevan Senchuk Bearcats defeated the Lake Diefenbaker Thunder 5-3 on Jan. 24 at the Power Dodge Ice Centre, and 4-1 on Jan. 26 at Affinity Place.

The Estevan atom Bearcats won 3-1 Jan. 25 at the Power Dodge Ice Centre in their final game of the regular season.

The Southeast TS&M midget A Goldwings had a win and a tie this past weekend. They started with a 3-3 tie against the Southwest Cyclones on Jan. 25 in Midale. Caydence Chapamn scored twice and Raegan Schlosser also scored in the first period to give the Goldwings a 3-0 lead. The Cyclones scored twice in the second, and tied the game with a goal in the third.

Their other game was an 8-1 win over the Wood River Ice Cats the following day in Lafleche. Kenna Hagel had two goals and three assists and Neve Stajniak also scored twice, while Chapman, Bailey Farr, Julie Frostad and Macy Cugnet also scored. 

Aaliyah McLean was in goal for both games.

The Estevan bantam A Bearcts dropped two games to the Balcarres Barracudas, 4-1 on Jan. 25 at the Power Dodge Ice Centre and 4-0 the following day at Affinity Place.

Jaycee Gervais scored Estevan’s lone goal on the weekend. It came in the first period on Jan. 25 and gave Estevan a 1-0 lead at one point.

Emmey Rae was in goal for both games.

The Power Dodge peewee A Bearcats dropped all three games they played on the weekend.

First was a 6-4 loss to the Balcarres Barracudas on Jan. 24. Brooke McKinnon scored three times for the Bearcats, and Finity Bourassa also scored.

The second game was a 4-1 loss to the Barracuas on Jan. 25. Bourassa had the lone goal.

Those two games were played at the Power Dodge Ice Centre.

The third game was a 4-1 loss to the Weyburn Wings at Affinity Place. Sydney Madsen scored for Estevan.

Kiera Barker was in goal for all three games.
