The Carievale 4-H Beef Club hosted the District 41 curling showdown Jan. 3 at the Gainsborough Curling Rink, with 62 curlers entered.

Forty of the entries were playing for fun and 22 were in the competitive division. There were three senior competitive teams from the Alida & Area Beef, Alameda Beef Club and Carnduff Beef Club, and two junior competitive teams from Alameda Beef and Carnduff Beef clubs.

The seniors played eight-end games while the juniors had six-end contests. The fun teams joined in, with the members from all the clubs being divided into 10 teams.

Each fun curling team played three games that lasted four ends. A raffle was held with prizes donated from each of the families of the Carievale 4-H Beef Club as well as from each of the other six clubs.

The Alameda senior and junior teams won their respective divisions, and they will move onto Melville to compete at the regional level Jan. 18.
