The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour's event has seen Estevan's junior golfers all over the leaderboards.

The MJT Golf Sask OOM Series by PLYR Golf, being held Saturday and Sunday at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course, is an international qualifier for the IMG junior worlds and the USKG Teen championship.

After the first day of competition, Yorkton's Ella Kozak leads the U15 girls with an opening day score of 83, Sarah Phipps of Victoria, B.C. leads the age 15-18 girls with a score of 80. Estevan's Bailey Farr is 28 strokes back at 108.

Weyburn's Darien Herlick leads the peewee boys with a 78 in the clubhouse, and Winnipeg's Noah Fiks is the top bantam boy with an opening round 74. Estevan's Ryan Chernoff hit 87 Saturday at his home course.

In the juvenile boys, Drew Fenwick left the course with an 85, which led in the clubhouse among the early tee times, while Hudson Chernoff stroked a 92. But last week's winner Cole Nagy from Saskatoon hit an opening round 74 to knock everyone else down a few pegs.

Jace Carlisle finished third last week in Portage, Manitoba, but he was in a tie for seventh with an 81 after the first round today, tied with fellow Estevan Comprehensive School teammate Chase Gedak.

Jayden Dudas returned to the tour with an opening round 76, in a tie for second with Cole Nagy's twin Josh Nagy.

In the junior boys' division, Logan Chernoff hit 80, four strokes behind co-leaders Brody Istace of Kindersley and Cole Obrigewitsch of Deer Valley. Reegan Robinson carded an 86.

Players will hit Woodlawn for the second and final day of the tournament at 9 a.m. Sunday.
