Estevan peewee Wolves advance in playoffs

The Estevan Wolves peewee hockey team has moved on to the final of the South East Minor Hockey League playoffs. After sweeping the Weyburn Red Wings in the first round, the Wolves faced the Estevan Thunder in the semifinals.

After sweeping the Weyburn Red Wings in the first round, the Wolves faced the Estevan Thunder in the semifinals.

The Wolves won Game 1 7-2 on March 6. Payton Phillips, Logan Nielson, Tymur Maidanski, Fisher Neff and Shea McNabb scored in the first two periods, and then Maidanski and Phillips each added their second of the game in the third.

Kashtin Casemore scored twice for the Thunder.

Game 2 saw the Wolves win 7-4 on March 10.

McNabb scored three times for the Wolves in the game, including two less than a minute apart in the second period. Daylen George, Justin Folbar, Hudson Hirkala and Neff also scored for the Wolves.

Carson Baumgartner tallied twice for the Thunder in the contest. Koen Turner and Conrad Hase also scored.

Details on the league final have not been announced.
