Local atom girls team picks up wins

Some teams from the area have started their regular seasons in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League. In atom action, the Estevan Senchuk Bearcats picked up a pair of wins at home over Weyburn teams on the weekend.

Some teams from the area have started their regular seasons in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League. 

In atom action, the Estevan Senchuk Bearcats picked up a pair of wins at home over Weyburn teams on the weekend. They won 8-3 over the Weyburn DQ Blizzards Saturday at the Power Dodge Ice Centre and then won 6-0 over the Weyburn AtoMc Gold Sunday morning at the ice centre.

The Bearcats 2 team, which has not played yet this season, will have games this weekend against Weyburn AtoMc Red at noon Saturday, and then at 10:30 a.m. Sunday against the Weyburn DQ Blizzards. The Senchuk Bearcats’ next action is Oct. 21 at the Weyburn DQ Blizzards.

In midget AA hockey league, the South East Gold Wings will travel to Swift Current this weekend and will face the Swift Current Broncos Saturday and Sunday.

In midget A hockey, the South East TS&M Goldwings will open their season at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Midale against the Prairie Storm Thunder, while the Carlyle Wildcats go to Regina Oct. 20 to play the Renegades.

The bantam Bearcats will begin Saturday at 4 p.m. against the Regina Renegades at the Power Dodge Ice Centre.

The peewee Bearcats are scheduled to begin their season Saturday at the Parkland Fire in Melville, and then play the Ochapowace Thunder on Sunday at Ochapowace.
