Midget AA Goldwings dominate Regina Rebels

The South East midget AA Goldwings won both their games last week, defeating the Regina Rebels 5-0 on Jan. 12 and 6-1 Jan. 13 in games between the top two teams in the South Division. Both games were played in Midale.

In Saturday’s game, Jordan Meyers opened the scoring 2:08 into the game, and Brynn Kuntz doubled the advantage with about eight minutes to play in the first. Marci LeBlanc scored midway through the second to give the Goldwings a three-goal cushion.

Kaycee Mullinger’s goal 4 1/2 minutes into the third added to the advantage, and LeBlanc notched her second of the game to round out the scoring.

Taryn McKinney earned the shutout.

LeBlanc continued to roll by opening the scoring less than two minutes into Sunday’s game, and  Dalis Prawdzik made it 2-0 late in the first. Kendra Kotylak took over offensively in the second, scoring three times in eight minutes for a 5-0 Bearcats lead through two periods.

Prawdzik scored in the third to pad the lead, and then the Rebels scored once before the game was finished.

Kara Zelyck was in goal for the win.

The Goldwings record is 14-1, and they lead the Rebels by seven points for first in the division. Their next game is Jan. 18 in Midale against the Notre Dame Hounds.
