Midget AAA Twins split with the 57s and the White Sox

In the first game against Swift Current, each team scored once in the second, third and fifth innings, but the difference was the seventh and final inning, when the 57s scored seven times. The twins only scored once in their final at bat.

Tyren Dorrance went 4-for-4 for the Twins, with one of the hits being a triple, and added two runs batted in (RBI). Rhett Krafchuk had two hits, and Thomas Husband scored twice.

Jayke Smolinski gave up two runs and struck out four in 3 2/3 innings. Rylan Erb came on in relief and surrendered eight runs in three innings; five of those runs were unearned. Boston Walker recorded the final out for the Twins.

In the second game, Kieran Stewart’s single in the bottom of the eighth plated the winning run.

For the second straight game, the 57s had a big inning in the seventh, as they scored four times to tie the game.

The Twins had leads of 4-0 after three innings and 7-3 after six. Dorrance once again led the way offensively with a 3-for-3 performance. He scored three times and also had three RBI.

Husband went six innings on the mound and gave up three hits while striking out eight. Kaiden Lyons surrendered all four runs in the seventh inning; three were earned.

Alex Kerr had a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the win.

The Twins also split a pair of road games against the Regina White Sox on Wednesday night. The Twins had a 6-5 lead entering the bottom of the seventh and final inning, but the White Sox scored twice for the win.

Dorrance, Krafchuk and Justin VanAchte each had two hits. Dorrance and VanAchte had a triple and a single apiece. Dorrance and Krafchuk also knocked in two runs, and VanAchte had the other RBI.

Ty Nikolejsin allowed two runs, one unearned, and struck out two in four innings. Burke Lyons gave up four runs, none of them earned, and struck out three in 2 1/3 innings.

The Twins scored five times in the second inning in a 10-4 victory in Game 2. They added two more in the third, and after the White Sox came back with four of their own in that frame, the Twins put the game away in the sixth with three more runs.

Hudson Neuberger had three hits and two RBIs. Aiden Krafchuk and Kaiden Lyons also had two RBIs on the day.

Boston Walker gave up four runs, including three earned runs, and struck out three in five innings of work. Kaiden Lyons pitched two innings of scoreless relief with one strikeout.  

Their next game will be June 11 at the Regina Athletics.
