Mike Sarada Memorial Day was a huge success for organizers, who helped raise money for a video coaching facility with a yet-to-be determined home.

The day at Affinity Place from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. featured alumni games from Sarada’s former teammates and family with the Melville Millionaires of the SJHL and Midale Mustangs and Bienfait Coalers from the Big Six Hockey League, as well as regular season games between the Weyburn Red Wings and Estevan Apex Bruins in midget AA) and Weyburn against the Estevan TS&M Bruins in bantam AA.

On Jan. 8, the former SJHL player and assistant coach with the TS&M Bruins, died on the highway north of the city.

Between silent auction items, a guaranteed 50-50 jackpot and and other donations, an estimated $20,000 was raised for the Mike Sarada memorial coaching centre.
