The Moose Mountain Marlins are the provincial baseball champions in the under-13 (U13) Tier 5 division.

Provincials were held in Moosomin from July 26-28, with eight teams entered. The Marlins were comprised of players from the Carlyle, Oxbow, Alameda, Kipling and Corning areas, and all played house league baseball in the Moose Mountain Baseball League.

The first game played by the Marlins was July 26 versus the Edam Blue Sox. The Marlins led 9-0 after five innings, and added 19 in the top of the sixth. Pitching and fielding played a part in the Marlins 28-0 victory.

The Marlins played twice July 27. Their first game matched the Marlins up against a team from Kindersley. The Marlins came out strong on the bats, combining great pitching and stellar defence to walk away with a 13-2 victory in just four innings.

The second game pitted the Marlins against the Carnduff Astros. It took a few innings, but with strong pitching and great fielding, the Marlins were able to walk away with a 13-3 victory after four innings.

A 3-0 record in the round robin put the Marlins in the semifinal against the host Moosomin team. Moosomin came out of the gate strong, but the Marlins led 5-3 after the first inning. Pitching and fielding stayed hot and the Marlins walked away with a 16-3, four-inning decision.

Thanks to the Astros victory over a team from Watrous in the other semifinal, it meant the Marlins and Astros would meet again in the final.

Carnduff was backed by some very strong pitching and held an 8-2 lead going into the bottom of the third inning. The Marlins were able to claw back into the game and took a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Carnduff scored once in the top of the fifth, and the game was tied at nines after five.

In the sixth inning the Marlins were able to hold the Astros to no runs due to some quality fielding and strong pitching. In the bottom of the sixth, the Marlins had two runners on base with no outs, and a base hit brought home the winning run in a 10-9 victory.
