One southeast hockey product has committed to join the Eclipse Downhole Solutions Estevan U18 AAA Bears for next season, while another will be back with the club.

The Bears announced Thursday that left winger Carter Onrait of Estevan would be on the Bears for 2021-22 – his first year of U18 hockey. Onrait has long been a fixture with teams in the Estevan Minor Hockey Association.

During the abbreviated 2020-21 season, he had a goal and two assists in two games with the Estevan TS&M U15 AA Bruins. The previous year, he had eight goals and 20 points in 31 games for the U15 AAs.

Also, the team announced that forward Carson Birnie of Arcola would be return to the Bears. Birnie, who is entering his second year of U18 hockey, scored the first regular season goal in Bears history in November.

He finished last season with two goals and an assist in six games for the Bears. 

The club has also announced the return of defenceman Boston Harkness of Emerald Park for next season. Harkness had two assists in six games in his first season of U18 hockey last season.
