Members of the Estevan Sharks cadet boys and girls teams hit the water in Regina on Sunday for a regular season tournament.

The boys had seven players make the trip and all contributed well to the success of the team, with the boys walking away undefeated with a 4-0 record. Coach David Dzeryk was very happy with the results as they started the season off rough but they have bounced back and found their groove in the Saskatchewan Cadet League. The boys played three tough Regina teams this past weekend. They started off against the Armada Panthers and after a back and forth game, the Sharks won 9-8.

Then they faced off against the Armada Jaguars and this time they found themselves trailing in the first half, but after a quick pep talk the Sharks bounced back and won 8-6. The next game was against the Armada Lions and the Sharks took a commanding league right from the start and finished the game with a 14-8 win.

This left one final game in the round robin against the Armada Tigers, and the Sharks once again took the early lead and held onto it for a 12-9 win.

The cadet boys team consisted of Lyndon Sauder, Lucas Dzeryk, Tristan Threinen, Nathan Threinen, Jace Carritt, Logan Dalziel and Dierks Milford.

The cadet girls did not have enough players to fill a roster so they were split amongst the Regina Armada teams.  Jordyn Tarnes, Prysm Gooding, Lily Knoll and Hailey Tangjerd played, and all three of the Armada teams that featured Sharks players did well, with each team notching wins over the weekend.

The next round of play for the cadet players will be back in Regina Feb. 29, when they will round out their regular season and complete in the Water Polo Saskatchewan Cadet Finals.
