Southeast Twins wrap up regular season

The Southeast Performance Pump midget AAA Twins wrapped up their regular season with a 9-7 victory over the Regina Athletics Friday afternoon. The Athletics scored once in the bottom of the second, but the Twins countered with three in the third.

The two teams traded runs in the fourth, and then the Twins broke the game open with five in the sixth to lead 9-2. The Athletics scored twice in the sixth and three times in the seventh to make it interesting.

Tyren Dorrance had three hits, including a double, and brought in three. He also scored twice. Burke Lyons had two hits and two runs, and Hudson Neuberger had a two-run double.

Jayke Smolinski gave up four runs, two of them unearned, in 5 1/3 innings of work to get the win. He also struck out four. Boston Walker gave up three runs, two unearned, in 1 2/3 innings of relief work. He also struck out two.

Other recent games for the Twins included a 3-1 victory over the Regina Wolfpack on Wednesday, and two losses to the Saskatoon Diamondbacks on Thursday: 11-3 and 9-2.

The Twins finished the season with a 14-16 record, and they were tied for sixth entering play in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League on Saturday.
