Carlyle and Yellow Grass lead Big Six

The Carlyle PureChem Cougars and the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings continue to lead the Big Six Hockey League. Carlyle (5-1-0-2) had a win and a tie in league play, winning 8-5 over the Oxbow Huskies on Dec.

Carlyle (5-1-0-2) had a win and a tie in league play, winning 8-5 over the Oxbow Huskies on Dec. 7, but losing 5-4 in a shootout to the Wawota Flyers.

Yellow Grass (5-1) doubled up the Bienfait Coalers 4-2 on Dec. 6 in the Wheat Kings most recent game.

Three teams sit tied for third with 4-2 records. The Redvers Rockets split their two games last week, winning 11-2 over the Arcola-Kisbey Combines on Dec. 7, but then they lost 6-3 to the Oxbow Huskies on Dec. 11.

The Flyers also split their games, winning over Carlyle but losing 7-5 to the Coalers on Dec. 7.

As for the Red Devils, they hammered the Midale Mustangs 10-2 in their most recent game. The Bienfait Coalers and the Kipling-Windthorst Oil Kings sit tied for sixth at 3-3. The Coalers split their two most recent games, while the Oil Kings beat the Combines 6-4 on Dec. 8.

Midale and Oxbow each sit at 2-5, while Arcola-Kisbey (0-5-1) is still looking for their first win of the season.

Big Six teams will continue to have busy schedules as the Christmas break approaches. Oxbow will visit Redvers, Carnduff is at Carlyle and Bienfait is at Kipling-Windthorst on Dec. 14.

Redvers plays Bienfait, Oxbow is at Carnduff and Kipling-Windthorst is at Yellow Grass on Dec. 15.

The Combines will visit the Mustangs in a rare Monday night game on Dec. 17, Carlyle visits Bienfait and Wawota is at Arcola-Kisbey on Dec. 18, and Carnduff is at Redvers on Dec. 19.
