The Western Hockey League (WHL) announced Monday that Estevan’s Cole Fonstad, a forward with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League, has been named the WHL On the Run Player of the Week, for the week of Feb. 4-10.

Fonstad recorded eight points (five goals and three assists) and a plus-six rating in three games this week as the Raiders won all three games to wrap up a Central Division swing, becoming the first team to secure a playoff spot.

Fonstad scored once in a 5-1 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Feb. 4, had two goals and three assists in an 8-2 rout of the Calgary Hitmen on Feb. 8, and scored twice in a 6-5 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes the following night.

With 60 points (26 goals and 34 assists) in 54 games, Fonstad is on pace to eclipse his career-high record of 73 points (21 goals and 52 assists) in 72 games, set in 2017-18.

The Montréal Canadiens selected Fonstad in the fifth round, 128th overall, at the 2018 NHL Draft.
