Gedak drops opening game of Tankard

The Brent Gedak rink, curling out of the Power Dodge Curling Centre in Estevan, dropped its opening game at the SaskTel Tankard men’s provincial curling championship in Whitewood.

Gedak was defeated 12-4 by Scott Comfort, curling out of Wadena, in the first draw of the competition. It was a close game to start, with Gedak scoring two in the second and stealing one in the third to lead 3-2.

But Comfort scored two in the fourth to take the lead, and then stole one in the fifth and three in the sixth to lead 8-3.

Gedak scored one in the seventh, but then Comfort took one in the eighth and stole three in the ninth to finish the game.

Gedak will return to the ice Thursday afternoon against Rylan Kleiter.
