Brent Gedak, curling out of the Power Dodge Curling Centre, has been eliminated from the 2019 SaskTel Tankard men’s provincial curling championship in Whitewood.

Gedak lost an 8-4 decision to Ryan Deis in the C event of the Tankard, which is a triple knockout elimination competition. Deis scored twice in the first to lead 2-0, and added another in the second for a three-point lead.

After Gedak scored one in the third and the fifth, and Deis had one in the fourth, the Deis rink scored three in the sixth for a 7-2 advantage.

Gedak and Deis scored single points in the seventh and eighth ends, respectively, and after Gedak only had one in the ninth, the two teams shook hands.

The Gedak rink opened with a 12-4 loss to Scott Comfort on Wednesday, and then dropped a 10-3 game to Rylan Keitler on Thursday.

Other members of the Gedak rink were third Jason Ackerman, second Derek Owens and lead Curtis Horwath.

Next week’s edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
